WebJunction builds social learning communities

WebJunction is a custom social learning community that gives instructors and students a creative online space for acquiring and showcasing essential skills. The platform is customized to reflect your institution’s brand and to deliver your instructional content in a flexible, dynamic format. The Web 2.0 environment encourages collaboration, content sharing and connections with mentors and peers and nurtures learning beyond traditional boundaries.

For Instructors:  WebJunction is where you can provide instructors and staff with the information and skills training they need to do their jobs better as they provide an enhanced social learning experience for your students. It’s also the place for your faculty to connect with their peers and colleagues, share their insights and expertise, and build a professional network. WebJunction provides portfolio space for instructors and multiple ways of connecting with colleagues anywhere, at any time.

For Students: Create a branded experience for your students, allowing them to interact more closely with their instructors and advisers while taking online courses through a Custom Course Catalog. Students can find and friend each other, create groups with shared interests and ongoing discussions relevant to their courses as they collaborate on projects. They can showcase their work in a personal portfolio and set access permissions.

Portfolios for Students or Instructors

Portfolios are collections of student work representing a selection of performance. They can function to illustrate the range of assignments, goals, and audiences for which a student produced material. Portfolios can also be used to support cooperative teaming by offering an opportunity for students to share and comment on each other's work.

They are valued as an assessment tool because, as representations of classroom-based performance, they can be fully integrated into the curriculum. And unlike separate tests, they supplement rather than take time away from instruction.
